Washington Avenue Improvements From Sandhill Road To Nellis Boulevard Planned July 1-Aug. 30

Only One Lane To Be Open In Each Direction

Starting Monday, July 1, and continuing through Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, Washington Avenue will be restricted to one open lane in each direction between Sandhill Road and Nellis Boulevard during roadway improvements. Primary work activities include lowering of utilities, milling, installation of traffic signal loop detectors, paving, raising of utilities and installation of road surface delineation. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, but lane restrictions will remain in place 24 hours. Milling and paving operations will be performed for approximately two weeks out of the nine-week period, subject to weather and equipment availability.

Owens Avenue or Bonanza Road are recommended as alternate routes for east– and westbound traffic.

Preliminary work already was completed, consisting of improvements to the sidewalk areas to meet federal requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the reconstruction of concrete cross gutter, curb and gutter.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $ 1.9 million, provided by the Federal Highway Administration and matched with Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax funds.
