Tired of Indoctrination? This Patriotic Online School Just Went Nationwide

Nevada News and Views

If you feel like your child’s school has become more about social justice than science, you’re not alone.

With public schools pushing politics instead of phonics, many families are searching for a better way. American Virtual Academy is offering a fresh start rooted in the same values our Founders believed in.

AVA is a private online K-12 school now open to families in all 50 states, but this isn’t just another virtual classroom.

It’s built around what many parents feel has been missing in education for years: core American values, traditional learning, and a curriculum rooted in the founding principles of this country.

And the timing couldn’t be better.

A Different Kind of School

According to their website, AVA is focused on things like liberty, personal responsibility, and good citizenship. In other words, the same ideas that built this country — not the “woke” stuff being pushed in many government-run classrooms today.

“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” isn’t just a motto at AVA; it’s the foundation of how they teach.

The school’s “Back to Basics” approach includes reading, writing, and arithmetic — not gender studies for third graders.

That message is already resonating with families who’ve had enough of the political agenda creeping into their kids’ education.

School Choice Is Gaining Ground

Even though AVA is available in every state, only eight states currently have scholarship programs that let families use state money to help pay for private schooling like this. Those states are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

But that number could grow soon.

Back in May, the U.S. House passed a $5 billion national tax-credit scholarship bill. If the Senate goes along with it, parents all over the country could use scholarships to enroll in schools like AVA.

That’s a big deal for families who want options but can’t afford private tuition on their own.

Conservatives have been fighting for this kind of school choice for years. Parents — not government bureaucrats — should decide where and how their children are educated.

And the research backs it up. A 2023 study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that students in online charter schools had graduation rates 5—10 percent higher than those in traditional schools, especially when the learning was personalized.

The Free-Market Solution

The launch of AVA fits right into what conservatives have been calling for: less government control and more freedom to choose.

Instead of being stuck in a failing public school, families now have a chance to pick something better.

This is the free market at work. Instead of throwing more tax dollars at a broken system, programs like AVA offer competition.

That means schools have to earn parents’ trust, and their enrollment.

Not Everyone Is On Board

Critics on the left say programs like this pull money away from public schools and don’t come with enough oversight.

But conservatives see it differently. They believe the real problem is the public school system.

If it were working, parents wouldn’t be leaving in the first place. And they argue that parents are the best form of accountability; if a school fails to deliver, families can go elsewhere.

What’s Next?

As of today, AVA is open and enrolling students. With education becoming one of the hottest issues in politics, this new school could become a major player — especially if that $5 billion tax-credit plan gets through the Senate later this year.

For parents fed up with what they’re seeing in classrooms, this might feel like the first real chance to take back control.

AVA isn’t just offering a lesson plan. It’s offering hope, and a return to the values that made this country great.
