Starting Friday, July 12, and continuing through Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, Rainbow Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction between U.S. 95 and Smoke Ranch Road for road improvements. Primary work activities include lowering of utilities, milling, paving, raising of utilities and installation of roadway delineation. Work activities will take approximately 10 hours each day, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., but lane restrictions will remain in place 24 hours/day. Milling and paving operations will be performed for approximately two weeks out of the nine-week period, subject to weather and equipment availability.

Buffalo Drive or Torrey Pines Drive are recommended as alternate routes for north- and southbound traffic.

Preliminary work already was completed, consisting of improvements to the sidewalk areas to meet federal requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the reconstruction of concrete cross gutter, curb and gutter. Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $2 million, funded by the Federal Highway Administration and matched with Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax funds.
