Lombardo: Remembering the life and legacy of Ted Loud, the spirit of America personified

By Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo

It is with deep respect and heartfelt appreciation that I extend my condolences and admiration for the life and legacy of Theodore “Ted” Ewald Loud — a proud patriot, a soldier, a gentleman, and a steadfast defender of American values.

From an early age, Ted’s commitment to our nation was unwavering.

As an Infantry Airborne Paratrooper in the United States Army, he served with courage and honor. But Ted’s devotion to the country did not end with his military service, he carried it forward into every chapter of his life.

A graduate of Yale University, where he played football and developed his passion for excellence, Ted lived a life filled with integrity, purpose, and service.

In his younger years, he enjoyed the rigor of rugby and the grace of equestrian jumping — pursuits that reflected his strength, discipline, and spirit.

Ted was not only a warrior on the battlefield, but also a tireless advocate for conservative principles and American values here at home.

As a co-founder of the Summerlin Patriots, he helped build a strong grassroots movement that brought neighbors together, fostered civic engagement, and inspired a deep sense of pride in our country.

His home became a hub of patriotism, as he hosted monthly meetings with warmth and conviction.

His involvement in the Nevada Republican Club, Battle Born Republican Women, Sun City Conservatives, the Clark County Republican Party Central Committee, and other conservative organizations speaks to his relentless dedication to our shared cause.

Ted wasn’t just a participant: he was a leader, a mentor, and a passionate believer in the greatness of America.

Most important of all, Ted was a loving and devoted partner to Paula Marsden, with whom he shared a deep love and a life filled with purpose, generosity, and patriotism.

On behalf of the State of Nevada, I offer my deepest gratitude for Ted’s service, sacrifice, and love for this country. We honor his memory, and we are better for having had him among us.
