Writer: Las Vegas Tribune NewsLas Vegas Tribune News

Through traffic on Tropicana at the Strip to be closed for nightly roadwork for 24-Hour work July 29-31

Motorists are advised of upcoming closures and lane restrictions scheduled at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard for 24-hour roadwork starting at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 29, through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31. The roadwork is part of the Las Vegas Boulevard Improvement project. Most of the work is occurring Sunday through Friday during evening through early morning hours. The schedule for the upcoming work and related impacts is as follows:

Tropicana/Las Vegas Boulevard Intersection Work Zone July 29-July 31

24-Hour Roadwork: Starting at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 29, through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, Tropicana Avenue will be closed to eastbound and westbound through traffic at Las Vegas Boulevard with right turns only at Las Vegas Boulevard. Las Vegas Boulevard will have two lanes open northbound and southbound.

 Tropicana Avenue Work Zone — 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

—Through Friday, Aug. 2, Tropicana Avenue eastbound and westbound from Las Vegas Boulevard to Koval Lane will have two lanes open for construction of a concrete median island.

This work is part of Phase E & F of a multi-phase project under way on Las Vegas Boulevard to upgrade infrastructure between Sahara Avenue and the 215 Beltway. Each phase includes water line replacement, new pavement, intersection modifications to improve pedestrian crossings, upgrades to traffic signals, LED street lighting systems with smart poles, and enhanced median landscaping. Commuters are advised that several agencies have construction projects under way in the resort corridor. Due to the fluid nature of construction activity and traffic conditions, work schedules can change on short notice. Motorists should check navigation apps such as Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps for the latest real-time information as they head out.
