Palermo-born violinist Giovanna Pia Ferrara, aka Jane Far,
will perform in Las Vegas during the procession dedicated to San Gennaro, the
Miraculous Saint venerated throughout the world. The Feast, conceived and
organized by Italian-American entrepreneur Anthony Palmisano, President of the
Feast of San Gennaro, Inc. in Las Vegas, will take place at the M Resort from
September 17th to 21st in Las Vegas. President Palmisano stated: "I appoint
Professor Maestro Giovanna Pia Ferrara (aka Jane Far) as Ambassador of the Feast
of San Gennaro in Las Vegas, for her extraordinary artistic and social commitment,
for her constant dedication to promoting the values of culture, art, solidarity,
Sicilianness, Italianness, and brotherhood through the universal language of music,
and for her unconditional love for Sicily, Italy, and its traditions, which she has
masterfully conveyed through every note of her compositions, every word, and every
gesture, becoming the voice and symbol of our common roots beyond national
borders." Jane Far is a composer, violin and music teacher, choir director, and expert
and scholar of regional music, musical multiculturalism, ethnomusicology,
Byzantine, and Oriental music. She attended the ten-year violin course at the
Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory of Palermo, now Alessandro Scarlatti, under the
guidance of Maestro Diego Obiso. She is currently studying at the “Alessandro
Scarlatti” Conservatory in Palermo to obtain her fifth degree in Theories and
Techniques of Music Therapy. She is the winner of numerous awards: “Women in
every sense”, “Women who made it”, “Precious tile of the mosaic of the city of
Palermo”, “Cettina Settineri Culture Award”, “Federico II Costa Normanna
International Award”, and the prestigious International Career Award 2023 Talents
and Professionals, organized by the Alessandro Costanza Foundation, and the
“Grand Prix Excellence SAINT-GERMAIN DES-PRÉS 2024 Paris” award, at the
Sorbonne University in Paris. Her musical composition entitled “Meridiem”, chosen
to represent the women of the world at Expo Dubai 2020 in the United Arab
Emirates, received the acclaim and compliments of the Vice President of the
European Commission Věra Jourová, and the music video “Meridiem” was awarded
at the Cefalù FILM Festival in 2021. She has performed in numerous concerts,
including in Paris and New York.
